A concealed
carry vest is typically synonymous with a vest that is used to carry concealed firearms, but that
is definitely not its only purpose.
Such a vest
can be used to carry a lot of things in its various pockets, which makes it a wonderful piece of
attire to put on when you are out on an adventure trip such as a hike or a trek or even mountain
climbing.
Since the
pockets present in these carry vests are always closed, they all qualify as concealed
pockets.
But the real concealed pockets are present on the inner
side of the vest, usually on the right side, because that becomes convenient to immediately put the hand in the
concealed pocket and remove the pistol or handgun that is inside it.
However, for people who are
more comfortable with their left hands, there are such versions of the vests too. That said, most of the vests
have inner pockets on both the right and the left side of the vests so that they can be used in a much more
versatile manner.
The highlight of all
concealed carry vests (also called concealment vests) is definitely the number of pockets that they have. Some
of them may have as many as 30 pockets, but having 15-18 pockets is considered the norm. These pockets are
present at the chest, the abdomen, the side, the inside and even in the space between the chest and the
abdomen.
Most of the pockets are
closable by Velcro fasteners but a few of them might have zippers to open and close them. The zippered pockets
are few because many people consider zippers to be inconvenient because they do take more effort in operating
them than Velcro fasteners. These pockets are of various sizes, so that they can carry stuff of different sizes
quite conveniently.
Most concealment vests will
have D-shaped loops on them also. These are useful in hanging key chains, pen torches, penknives and such. These
are generally present below the chest pockets.
Concealed Carry Clothing
Concealed carry vests are
made without sleeves. An outer jacket is usually meant to go above it, thus adding more meaning to the
concealment aspect of this type of concealment clothing or holster. That is one of the reasons why these
vests are sleeveless.
They have zippered fronts
generally, though there are some that don’t have any closures out in the front at all, not even buttons. This
allows the wearer to easily reach into their inner side and draw the concealed pistol or handgun whenever
needed.
Some concealed carry vests have a drawstring-type arrangement at the bottom hem so
that they can be made tighter on the body. This comes in handy when the vest is worn during some dexterous
activity such as rock climbing or even jogging.
Today, concealed carry clothing has gained a different
fashion standing of their own. Men and especially boys wear them just because these jackets are considered macho
and they go with any kind of bottom wear, especially denim and corduroy pants, regardless of whether or not
you’re actually carrying a gun in the vest. You could get a good concealed carry vest within $100 if you buy
